Decepticonom przewodzi okrutny i zły Megatron, z kolei dowódcą Autobotów jest Optimus Prime. Walka tych dwóch nacji od wieków toczyła się na ich rodzinnej planecie, jednak podczas lotu kosmicznego pomiędzy Autobotami a Decepticonami, dochodzi do pojedynku i nieszczęśliwym przypadkiem wrogowie trafiają na planetę Ziemię.
