W czasach gimnazjum Ren Mihashi nie wygrał ani razu, mimo że był asem drużyny. Powodem było słabe narzucanie. Szkołę skończył z niską samooceną i postanowieniem rzucenia baseballu. W tym celu wybrał liceum w innej prefekturze. Niestety po przybyciu do Liceum Nishiura zmuszony jest dołączyć do nowej drużyny baseballowej.
